SCAN IN A VAN
Mobile scanning and portable MRI services
This project aims to assess the feasibility of building and integrating into a clinical workflow an innovative system which we call 'Scan in a Van'. The idea behind ‘Scan in a Van’ is to combine a dedicated extremity MRI scanner and advanced diagnostic software for analysis and extraction of information from MRI scans acquired from patients with RA. The system is placed into a specifically equipped vehicle, which can be taken to GP surgeries, hospitals, or local community settings, e.g. patient’s homes.
The system will benefit doctors and patients alike, driving efficiency in the day to day operation of radiology departments and with cost savings to the hospitals and clinics. The possibility to scan RA patients at very low cost will allow for the significant increase in the patient throughput and reduction of waiting lists.
